UASU and UoN Sign an MoU to drop court case against reforms

The University of Nairobi Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kiama Gitahi yesterday received strong support for the governance reforms from the leadership of the University Academic Staff Union.  UASU officials who had initially opposed the reforms and moved to court to stop the reform process said that they have reached an agreement with the Vice-Chancellor following a series of consultative meetings.

Collection of Data on all Staff Dependants

The University embarked on an exercise of collecting data on all staff dependants. The exercise that started in February 2021 has a deadline of May 31, 2021.  A staff member who will not have filled the updated google form will not be able to access University Health Service. 

The University approved the process with the aim of enhancing and syncing data on the newly refurbished HRMIS. The exercise will ensure efficiency in service delivery at the UHS and in terms of staff benefits and their beneficiaries in case of death. 

Appointment and Promotion of Academic Staff

The University Council has approved a set of criteria for appointment and promotion of academic staff. 

In a memo dated December 1, 2020, The Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs, Prof. Ogeng'o clearly notes that there are amendments made to the criteria for appointment and promotion of academic staff. 

The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Human Resource and Administration, Prof. Enos Njeru has released the circular to all staff. 

Prof. Enos Njeru is the New DVC Human Resource and Administration

Prof. Enos Njeru who has been the Principal, College of Humanities and Social Sciences has been appointed as the new Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Human Resource and Administration for the next 6 months. 

The new appointment was made alongside the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Finance Planning and Development to be held by Prof. Margaret Hutchinson.
