A first Professoriate Assembly held at UoN

In a first of its kind, the University Management hosted a Professoriate Assembly which brought together all the professors in the University of Nairobi on Thursday May 30, 2019.

At the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Prof. Julius Ogeng’o, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Finance, Planning and Development, Prof. Isaac Mbeche, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Enterprise, Prof. Madara Ogot and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Human Resource and Administration, Prof. Stephen Kiama engaged the Professors in their views on matters pertaining their dockets.

 

At the Assembly, the Professors shared their views pertaining strategic issues in the university. The areas of focus include governance, leadership, management and administration; competitiveness and image; resource mobilization; teaching and learning; research, innovation and enterprise; and student life.

 

The Professors were drawn from the six colleges, Graduate School and ODeL Campus. In his presentation, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi gave a moving message of appreciation to the scholars who have dedicated themselves to serving the University.

 

“On behalf of the entire management, I wish to convey our sincere appreciation of the various roles and responsibilities that you undertake and play to ensure that the university remains a stable, peaceful globally competitive, is well ranked and sustains a warm brand,” said Prof. Mbithi. “You do so collectively and individually in serving the functions of Governance, leadership, management and administration; sustaining competitiveness and visibility; resource mobilization; teaching and learning; research, innovation and enterprise; and student life. These are the foundations, enablers and pillars that ensure global stature of the University. May God bless you and enable you to continue serving with renewed commitment.”
